Celebrating 20 Years of Irtijal – Tag/Day 2

Das ursprünglich als gemeinsames Projekt von Musiker*innen aus Beirut und Berlin und als Jubiläumsausgabe zum 20-jährigen Bestehen des Beiruter Irtijal International Festival of Experimental Music in Lebanon geplante irtijal 20 berlin-Festival im ausland musste umdisponieren. Aufgrund der aktuellen Reise- und Visabeschränkungen können die libanesischen Musikerinnen nicht teilnehmen und Berliner Echtzeit-Musiker*innen gestalten an zwei Abenden ein der experimentellen Musikszene Beiruts gewidmetes Festival. Kuratiert wird es von dem seit 2015 in Berlin lebenden Trompeter Mazen Kerbaj. Präsentiert werden Stücke der überwiegend eng mit der Beiruter Szene verbundenen Berliner Musiker*innen und als Brücke nach Beirut deren Interpretation einer neuen Komposition von Sharif Sehnaoui sowie ein per Video gezeigter Beitrag von Aya Metwalli und Tony Elieh nun im studioboerne45 in Weißensee.

The irtijal 20 berlin-Festival, originally planned as a joint project between musicians from Beirut and Berlin and as an anniversary edition to mark the 20th anniversary of the Beirut Irtijal International Festival of Experimental Music in Lebanon, had to change its plans. Due to the current travel and visa restrictions, the Lebanese musicians are unable to participate and Berlin echtzeit musicians will create a festival dedicated to Beirut's experimental music scene on two evenings. The festival is curated by trumpeter Mazen Kerbaj, who has been living in Berlin since 2015. Pieces by the Berlin musicians, most of whom are closely connected to the Beirut scene, will be presented and, as a bridge to Beirut, their interpretation of a new composition by Sharif Sehnaoui, as well as a contribution from Lebanon shown on video by Aya Matwalli and Tony Elieh, now in studioboerne45 in Weißensee.
